Fall & Winter Fests Featuring COUNTY ROAD SIX

There are a few more events and fests that may well be locked in before long, but for now, I’m for sure going to be at a handful this fall/winter with COUNTY ROAD SIX, along with so many amazing authors from Canada and elsewhere. As free-hotel is the greatest part about writing and publishing, and doing booky events and tour things is the only way my poor author ass gets to travel for the most part, it is amazing to get back to a few spots where I’ve fested in the past.

Check out the info below (to be updated as needed), with some of the actual events already locked and loaded with excellent authors. As of now, I’m super pumped to be sharing stages with Amanda Peters, Wayne Johnston, Don Gillmor, Alex Springs, Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Rollie Pemberton, Chanel Sutherland, Aaron Cully Drake, Doretta Lau, Amal El-Mohtar, Sharon Bala, Portia Elan, Jordan Abel, Kevin Hardcastle, Dina Del Bucchia, Zak Jones, and more…

If you click any of the above links for Eden Mills Writers Fest, Calgary Wordfest, Vancouver Writers Fest, Parry Sound Fest of Authors, and Wild Writers Literary Fest you’ll get the event link for those I’m involved in at each spot, but note that the latter three are yet to have individual events listed (PSFA seems to be waitin’ on a website as it is only newly being started up again this year, and WWLF hasn’t put the 2026 fest details up fully yet).

Otherwise, there are those outstanding festivals we’re waiting to hear about and some more potential readings that I’ve gotta circle back around to the organizers for, as the spring and summer were pretty busy after the release of COUNTY ROAD SIX and some other writing/teaching engagements on the go. When I’ve got those sorted out, I’ll crank ’em up on this hilarious increasingly baffling site and share on socials and whatnot, as usual.

Until then, grab up your tickets for these if you’re in the area, or if you want to trek over to any of these spots. I’ll be there warbling about real rural Ontario stories and shenanigans and probably about class warfare and maybe even the latest emo sadgirls that I’ve been listening to whilst going about my business in recent months.

All the Media Out There For COUNTY ROAD SIX

As we move firmly out of the midst of the Spring 2026 publishing season and into Summer 2026, I thought I’d post a little media roundup of all of the coverage that COUNTY ROAD SIX received so far.

I was thrilled to get so much ink (actual ink and digital) for the novel, and that all comes down to the very hard work of Steve Myers, my publicist for the novel, and some other PRH publicity staff that dug in as well, including Sabrina Yussuf, Taylor Rice, and Kaitlin Smith. And, of course, they’d have no book to work with if it wasn’t for my editor at Bond Street Books, Janie Yoon, and all of the other Doubleday folks in publisher Amy Black, managing editor Maria Golikova, and proofreaders Melanie Little and Tilman Lewis. Another big shout out to my agents, Dean Cooke and Ron Eckel, and all the folks at Cooke McDermid that have gotten behind the novel.

Some of the highlights there including a print piece in The Toronto Star as part of their Reading Habits series, that I grabbed up from newstands and archived with a piece from Matt Horseman in The Globe and Mail, in which they featured the book around the time of release.

Also, this was a real experience in terms of seeing how some of the years I’ve spent in the literary community might lend a hand in terms of coverage. I’ve been lucky enough to be a guest of Richard Crouse’s show over at iHeartRadio and NewsTalk 1010 a few times in the past, and he very kindly interviewed me for the Richard Crouse Show Podcast this time around. There was a really nice segment on CTV Your Morning as well, where the mighty Vikki VanSickle (a bestselling and amazing author herself) recommended COUNTY ROAD SIX to readers.

There might be a few other things on the way, and perhaps some podcasts and other such coverage now that the dust has settled some. I’ve also got a busy fall on the way, with a number of events and festivals locked in. I’ll be posting about all of those shortly (as you can see by gaps in posts, I’ve had plenty on the go until recent days), so keep an eye out for more information on all of them. I will say that I’m very pumped to be getting back out west again, and to hit up some festivals that I haven’t before, and the first one that I ever found myself invited to…

I’ll also be revisiting some events I didn’t get to cover at length, including TIFA’s MOTIVE festival, which took place at my old stomping grounds of Victoria College in the University of Toronto back in June, and I’ll share more about the Georgian Bay and Muskoka indie bookstore tour I embarked on a few weeks back.

COUNTY ROAD SIX is an actual book

Well, it has been awhile since I last sent word about my writing, particularly this new novel that has been in works for some years, titled COUNTY ROAD SIX. But, after returning from wordpress quietude and some heavy months of work on the edits and revisions, the novel is set for release on May 19th, 2026.

It seemed a fine day to get back into this here, as the official cover reveal was done by the incredible folks at Bond Street Books today, which is a fabled imprint of Doubleday Canada known for publishing many fancy US and international authors here. They’ve added some select Canadian authors to the list as they move forward from here, and this guy found his way in there somehow.

I’ll be on here posting more about this along the way, but I wanted to start again here with this fortuitous news on the heels of the BSB 20th Anniversary party in Toronto last night, where I got to chat with so many of the magical people who made this book, and all of the others on the list (including upcoming works by fellow guests Jesse Thistle and Megan Gail Goles).
